- WARDEN, Violet May (nee Hetherington)-
With deep love and gratitude, the family of Violet May Warden (nee Hetherington) announces her peaceful passing on March 31, 2026, at the remarkable age of 98.
A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Violet was predeceased by her parents, many siblings, her beloved husband Ken—who passed away in 2009 after 62 years of marriage—as well as many nieces and nephews whom she held dear. Violet will be lovingly remembered by her children: Larry (Rosemary), Diane (Hugh), and Randy (Nora); her grandchildren Aynsley (Chris), Brad, Lindsay (Shane), Lesley (Dre), and Blaine (Tawnya); and her great‑grandchildren Ayrah, Logan, Annette, Nataya, Olivia, Elizabeth, Elias and Julianya. She is survived by her sister Margaret and her brother Ken (Jean) who will continue to cherish her memory and the many stories she leaves behind. Violet will also be fondly remembered by Roger and Anne Bell and their family, longtime friends who held a special place in her life.
Violet’s life was defined by faith, music, service, and unwavering devotion to family. A longtime member of Grace Gospel Church, she was a faithful participant in the choir and also an active member of the church’s women’s group, where she found fellowship, purpose, and a community she loved. Her love of music began early, playing the trombone in the Salvation Army band as a young girl, one of the many expressions of her quiet talent and dedication. In her working years, she served as dispatcher and unofficial “office manager” for Ken Warden Construction, where her organizational skills and steady presence kept everything running smoothly. True to her Scottish heritage, Violet was a recycler long before it was commonplace, finding creative ways to reuse and repurpose long before it became a trend.
But above all, Violet treasured her family. She was always the first to arrive and the last to leave any gathering. Ready to lend a hand, offer a listening ear, or simply enjoy time together. Her warmth, steadiness, and gentle humour created a sense of comfort wherever she went. She loved her family deeply, and they loved her just as deeply in return. Violet’s long life leaves a legacy of kindness, faith, resilience, and devotion. She will be profoundly missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Gospel Church (5855 Valley Way, Niagara Falls), on Thursday April 9, 2026, visitation will begin at 9:30am, followed by a service at 11:00 am., with a reception afterward. A private interment of ashes will follow later in the day for the immediate family. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a donation to the Grace Gospel Church Memorial Fund.
