- OBITUARY
Mr. Robert “Bob” Earle Bannab of Coaldale, beloved husband, father, son, uncle brother and friend, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at the age of 62 years.
Bob was born to parents Kingsley and Elizabeth Bannab on June 16, 1959 in the small town of Brighton, Ontario. He and his family resided in Barrie, Ontario where he attended school and graduated. He moved to Kingston, Ontario to open a Red Lobster restaurant and this is where he met his wife, Joye. Bob and Joye married and started their family in Kingston where they welcomed their son Dayton. They eventually moved to Alberta where Dayton grew up with his cousins and extended family. There was never any shortage of family gatherings, laughter and love.
Bob had a few different jobs over the years, but his favourite job of all was his most recent one at Red Arrow. It was there that he formed close relationships with his co workers and considered them his extended family. He spoke kindly and cared deeply for everybody there.
Bob was an avid fan of hockey, golf and football. He was a devoted hockey dad- often driving through the night to make it to all of Dayton’s games. He also worked at the concession and announced for the Copperheads and any game that he could for Dayton’s team. He was a collector of things and was always up for the challenge of finding a certain Hot Wheel, hockey jersey, vintage hockey memorabilia, or anything you could ask for! He really enjoyed taking photos of family and pets to save. He also had his fair share of “Dad Jokes” one being “It’s raining cats and dogs- be careful not to step in a poodle!”.
To sum it up- Bob was a simple man who loved his family and friends. He was kind and genuine with a heart of gold. Those who had the opportunity to get to know Bob knew that he would give them the shirt off his back and be there if they needed help.
Besides his loving wife Joye, Bob is survived by his son Dayton (Chantelle); sister Brenda; and brothers Paul and Grant as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth and brother Brian.
To honor Bob, we are having a gathering for him at his favourite place- The Coaldale Arena.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the COALDALE SPORTSPLEX, 1213 20th Ave, Coaldale, AB T1M 1M1.
